The Academic Woman’s Writing Roadmap
Learn the 7 essential stops on the road to prolific publishing. Because you think it’s about time, but it’s about so much more.
You know you need to write more, but how?
Does this sound familiar?
You had great advisors but no one ever taught you how to write academic publications while doing a million other things.
You feel like you need a spark of inspiration to write, but that spark never comes.
You can never relax because you could always be working.
Your to-do list never ends—and so you never find time to write.
You know you need to publish so you can get that job/tenure/promotion but with all the teaching and committee work it just keeps getting pushed to the bottom of the list.
You want to be able to write consistently without feeling guilty when you’re not writing.
You want to feel like you are in charge of your writing—instead of the other way around.
Your obstacles to writing more are guilt, overwhelm, or both.
Grad school prepared you for a lot, but not for juggling writing with the gazillions of other things on your list.
Now, imagine a career where you could…
Feel confident, calm, and collected.
Leave work at work.
Pre-plan your writing, be consistent, and forgive yourself for getting off plan.
Find purpose and alignment in all of your academic endeavors.
Know exactly what project to work on next.
Finish the writing projects that you start, and submit them for publication.
Are you ready to write and publish more?
Then you’re ready for…
The Academic Woman’s Writing Roadmap
The 7-module online course that teaches you exactly how to manage your academic life so you can write and publish more.
I really feel like I have not just tools for getting my important work done but a sense of empowerment and perspective about what matters TO ME.

You have almost-done projects clogging up your pipeline–but nothing flowing out the other end.

After you complete the course
You feel confident, calm, and collected.
Your pipeline is flowing–with new publications coming in and completed publications going out.
You found you’re “no” and you know when and how to use it.
You have a system for consistent writing in place–and you’re finally sticking to it.

What’s most impressive about Cathy Mazak’s Academic Women’s Writing resources is that she’s figured out how to turn the most pressing work we need to be doing into a form of self-care. I began to reap the rewards of following Cathy’s very practical advice immediately and continue to. Nothing feels better than giving myself the permission and the resources to pursue my own dreams.

This course is Not for you if…
— You are not willing to try new things.
— You think the culture of academia is OK the way it is (i.e., soul-sucking).
— You are jealous of other people for what looks like success with ease.
— Patriarchy is fine with you. 🙂
Being on top of your writing game means more publications
Let’s get real: can you really keep up the pace you’re going at now? Is this how you imagined your career would feel, after busting your butt during your PhD ? I didn’t think so.
The longer you wait before you take control of your career the bigger the snowball of stuff you have to do gets. And this has a real cost for you: an actual monetary cost (tenure and promotion) and an emotional one as well.
You’ve got two choices
You can keep going on the fast-track to burn out.
or
You can learn how to do it a better way.
The longer you wait, the more stressed out and behind you’ll be.
Wouldn’t you rather start writing more (and feeling less stressed) right now?

Hey there.
I’m Cathy.
It’s my passion to mentor brilliant academic women to publish more. It took me a while (and let’s be honest–the birth of my first kiddo) to figure out how to manage my academic life so that I not only published more, but enjoyed it. After figuring this out myself, and teaching others through one-on-one coaching, I developed the Academic Woman’s Writing Roadmap to teach you how to do it, too.
I’m a tenured professor with three kids, two edited volumes, and a bunch of academic articles (including my latest one in Anthropology and Education Quarterly–soexcited about that!). I have a PhD in Critical Studies in the Teaching of English from Michigan State University and I’m currently a tenured full professor at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez, where I teach undergraduate courses in linguistics and direct the graduate program in the Department of English.
Working with Cathy is truly inspiring. Her enthusiasm for her work is contagious. She really challenged me to think differently about more than just time management and identifying my writing style.
